Description

Here's the last of the Concept Arts for now! I know more then one of you guys have been waiting for this one, so I hope you like.

That fateful final battle against Chase Young that you guys keep hearing so much about wounded everybody's favorite Shoku warrior as well. Not physically like Clay and Omi, but psychologically. All the progress Raimundo had made up until that point, every last bit of good he'd ever done, meant absolutely nothing to him after that terrible fight. He had chosen to lead his three closest friends into battle, and because of that choice one was wounded for life and the other would probably never walk again. The guilt he felt over this absolutely crushed any confidence he had in himself as a leader, as a dragon warrior, and even as a friend. When the Xiaolin High Council called him in to answer for the events of the fight, Raimundo put all the blame for Omi and Clay's condition on himself, even though Master Fung and Dojo did not agree in the slightest.

He offered to step down as leader, but Master Fung would hear nothing on the subject and refused to allow the council to even consider the option. After arguing for a while, the council agreed to send the monks back to their respective homes, since Omi and Clay both needed to recuperate, Raimundo was to be held accountable for what had happened, and Kimiko couldn't handle the responsibilities all on her own. Raimundo didn't protest the decision and left that night without even saying goodbye to his friends.

Unable to forgive himself even back in Rio, Raimundo began training more fiercely then ever, insisting that the council send all of the more dangerous missions they offered the dragon warriors to him in an attempt to keep his friends from being hurt ever again. Unlike Kimiko and Clay, who prefer solitary lifestyles, Raimundo has dated since returning to his homeland. Quite often, as a matter of fact. Unfortunately, he's also gotten into a habit of unconsciously sabotaging his relationships before he can get too comfortable or the girl can get too close, in an effort to keep people he cares for from getting hurt by his admittedly dangerous responsibilities as a warrior.

Other then that though, Raimundo's made a life for himself in Rio. He reconnected with his large, crazy family and got a job teaching people self defense at his cousin's gym. He bounces from place to place, crashing with various family members and friends since he doesn't have an apartment or home of his own. In fact, other than clothes and a few sentimental keepsakes, the only thing Rai really has is the motorcycle he bought when he turned eighteen, which is his pride and joy.

Despite his shattered self confidence and inability to face his friends, the other Dragons and Master Fung still believe in Raimundo as the leader of the Dragon Warriors. Indeed, everything that made him a good leader is still there- the cunning, the determination, the willingness to go above and beyond for his friends and teammates- but he has long ago stopped seeing it in himself, if he ever saw it in the first place. Reconnecting with the friends he still loves and misses like a man stranded in the desert misses water just might help him wake up to that fact, though.
